Catholic school just helped you realize the fact. I always looked forward to work arounds for recanting my sins. Thanks to military deployments I was afforded the opportunity to receive general absolution. Much easier on a person than telling someone a closely edited laundry list of your short comings. As we know the Church is full of traditions. Some of them are good and some well don't seem to hit the mark. The one thing that I really appreciate about the Church and my upbringing is the sense of home and family. Let me explain. It's a pretty calming force when you spend your day down range getting shot at or returning fire. Walking into the makeshift chapel after a rough day helped to remind me of my home and my friends and family back in the world. It didn't matter what language the service was in because the Mass is pretty universal and any Catholic could understand the flow of the service. It gave me time to re-cage, confirm my values, and prepare mentally for another week. Somehow brother you don't strike me as a person that sets out to conduct unethical business. Confession was kind of a joke when were kids re: the whole freedom to sin again. We all stumble along the way but I would think most of us share the same core group of values and strive to live what we believe is a good life. I'll stop rambling bud.
